Jepson House: 28 New Affordable Homes in Hammersmith

Jepson House, Hammersmith, London, UK

Simon Kaufman led the design and planning of 28 affordable homes on a council-owned infill site in Hammersmith, working with a team of consultants to deliver a high-quality residential scheme for the Local Authority.

The site constraints were complex—daylight, privacy, and overlooking issues demanded careful handling. Our solution was a contemporary reinterpretation of the terraced street, optimising layout and form to respect neighbouring buildings while creating strong street presence and identity.

The external envelope uses clearly defined components to set the new building apart from an adjacent 1970s block, giving it a distinctive architectural character. Internally, the apartments are designed for longevity, simplicity, and practicality. Generous glazing to living areas ensures good natural light. Several units are fully wheelchair accessible, and all layouts are carefully planned to maximise usable space.

This project reflects our continued commitment to well-designed, robust housing that delivers long-term value—for both residents and local councils.
