Empowering Communities: 28 New Affordable Homes in Hammersmith
Jepson House, Hammersmith, London, UK
Simon Kaufman led a versatile design team to secure planning permission for 28 new affordable apartments on a council-owned, in-fill site in Hammersmith, London. These homes, designed for the Local Authority, are thoughtfully arranged in a contemporary adaptation of the traditional terraced street layout. This innovative design responds to intricate daylight and privacy considerations involving neighboring properties.
The building's exterior is composed of distinct elements, setting it apart from the neighboring 1970s block and infusing it with unique identity and character. Inside, the apartments boast a blend of simplicity, durability, and elegance. Full-height glazing in the living rooms fills the spaces with natural light. Several flats are fully wheelchair accessible, and all floor plans are optimized for efficient living space.
As seasoned residential architects in London, our commitment to excellence shines through. We take pride in delivering high-quality, resilient housing designs to fit any budget, creating enduring homes that inspire and empower communities.
