Simon Kaufman Architects is proud to showcase our leadership role in the delivery of 300 new residential homes within the Greenwich Millennium Village masterplan. Acting as project lead and senior designer for Taylor Wimpey and Leach Rhodes Walker Architects, Simon guided the production of detailed construction information and specifications for a series of apartment blocks that set a new benchmark in modern urban living.

This development responds rigorously to updated fire safety regulations and stringent energy efficiency standards, while achieving Secure by Design Gold accreditation. It represents a thoughtful fusion of innovation, sustainability, and practicality.

Our approach emphasises sustainable excellence with high-performance insulation and energy-saving measures that comply fully with Building Regulations Parts L and O. The use of lightweight, environmentally responsible materials reduces the carbon footprint, ensuring energy-efficient operation throughout the lifespan of the buildings.

Residential design prioritises practicality and buildability. Apartments are carefully planned around residents' needs, delivering spacious living areas and bedrooms, efficient circulation, and full compliance with Nationally Described Space Standards and Part M4(2) wheelchair accessibility. Communal entrances, landscaping, and shared spaces foster a welcoming and inclusive community environment.

The project promotes sustainable travel by incorporating secure cycle storage facilities designed to the latest London Cycle Design Standards. It also exceeds the strict accessibility requirements set by Greenwich, going beyond the minimum standards of Part M building regulations.

To optimise cost-efficiency and readiness for construction, Simon led the submission of “non-material amendments” to refine the original planning approval. These refinements enhance the project's quality and compliance, reflecting a commitment to delivering outstanding, future-proof residential architecture.
